Analyzing the contingencies behind behavior change and maintenance has profoundly changed my view of the world. The list of things I geek out about keeps growing.
Last night, the dogs and I had an evening stroll through a quiet, established old neighborhood. Smiling neighbors waved at me from their porches. Rich scents of honeysuckle and magnolia blossoms hung heavy in the air. Fireflies danced over lush green yards, winking in and out of existence, transforming dusk into something sacred and magical.
My first thought: "Eeeee! Yay! I love fireflies!"
My second thought: "Ha! The sight of fireflies is a powerful reinforcer for my behavior of twilight dog-walking!"
